Agrotechnology Study Program of Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta (UMBY) operates based on the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education No. 7532/D/T/K-V/2011. The Agrotechnology Study Program of Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta is a new history in UMBY which was previously established under the name of Wangsa Manggala Agricultural Institute (IPW) in 1985, which then changed its name to Wangsa Manggala University (UNWAMA) with a major in Agronomy in 1986, and changed its name to Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta with a major in Agrotechnology in 2008. The establishment of this Agrotechnology Study Program will accelerate the development of agriculture in Indonesia, where UMBY Agrotechnology has produced many superior Bachelor of Agriculture graduates who are ready to compete in the world of work in the agricultural sector and other sectors spread throughout Indonesia.
The UMBY Agrotechnology Study Program produces experts who have high competence in handling various agricultural problems and are ready to support government programs in realizing food independence. Areas that can be handled by our graduates include:
- Determination of recommended fertilizer doses
- Development of biological and plant-based pesticides
- Development of organic fertilizers with local biomass
- Soilless farming and urban farming
- Development of sustainable crop and livestock integration systems
- Agribusiness development
- Preparation of policies in the agricultural sector
- Analysis of weather anomalies with planting patterns as anticipation of the risk of crop failure, and so on.
